FAQs
Q: I noticed your site says you do online therapy. Do you ever offer in-person sessions?
A: I offer confidential and convenient online (video) psychotherapy for busy individuals who live in New York State. Since I am exclusively online, there is no commute, no parking worries and no complicated office procedures involved.
Q: How long are the sessions?
A: The initial assessment is between 75 and 90 minutes long. During that time, I will be gathering lots of information from you about your history, what's going on now and what you want things to look like in your future after therapy. During that initial appointment, we will develop a plan together for what makes sense for you. After that, the weekly time investment is a minimum of a 60-minute session, but to really gain traction, I might suggest some therapy activities to do outside of the therapy room that might be beneficial to you. That could be in the form of listening to podcasts, reading a book or article, contemplating a specific question, doing self-care activities, or starting a new habit for yourself. This time investment varies, may not be every week and, like therapy, is totally optional on your part.
Q: Do you have evening or weekend appointments available?
A: I have a limited number of evening and Saturday morning appointments available for ongoing weekly 60-minute sessions.. They typically book up far in advance, and are considered premium spots.
Q: How long will it take to see results?
A: That’s honestly a tough one to answer. I like to help clients feel better as soon as possible and the idea is for you to learn more about how you can help yourself. There are no guarantees, and no perfect way to predict how long things will take, as results will largely depend on your involvement and implementation of what you learn in therapy. The clients I work best with are people who are committed to the process, who follow through on work between appointments (if any), and who are willing to dig deep and take action on their own behalf. How ready are you to make a change?
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: I’m an out-of-network provider and I'm happy to verify your out-of-network coverage for you to see if you are eligible for partial reimbursement from your insurance company. I also provide a receipt for you after every session with all the required information on it for you to submit to your insurance company. Some of my clients use their health savings account funds to cover the cost of therapy and others check with their accountant to see if they can deduct therapy as an out-of-pocket health care expense.
Q: What's the investment?
A: The initial 75 to 90 minute initial assessment is $225. Weekly 60 minute psychotherapy sessions are $170. The transformational power of dedicated therapy to help you feel better and live your best life? Priceless.
Q: How do I get started?
A: I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see how I might best be able to help; because it's not just important to match skills and education, but it’s personality too. It’s during that consultation call where you can ask whatever questions you have. If after this consultation call we both feel it's a good fit, we go ahead and schedule the initial assessment and you can fill out the necessary paperwork electronically through a privacy-compliant online client portal. Easy breezy! I’d love to talk to you. Click here to get started with a free consultation call.
